About:

Mentorship was the most requested addition to Hire Women Week programming in 2022. With your help, we are piloting a mentorship matchmaking day to connect mentees to senior professionals in their field.

Time Commitment: 30 min per session Each sign up leads to a 20-minute session with option to extend time by a few minutes if needed.

Where: Join the video session via the Hire Women Week event platform.

Who are the Mentees: The mentees are women who are attending Hire Women Week. Last year, almost half our audience identified as “up & comping” and 35% identified as “Mid-Career.” We also expect a large part of our attendees this year to be women+ who have been affected by layoffs and are wanting to expand their network. We expect women of all ages.

Topics to discuss: Mentees should be prepared to bring one or two specific questions. If they do not have specific questions, we suggest you share your personal career story and any resources that helped you develop the skills you have now.

There is no obligation to stay in touch with your mentee after Hire Women Week, but we certainly hope you want to! Please exchange information on the call if you want to stay in touch.

FAQ’s:

  1. Do I need to be registered to attend Hire Women Week?
    1. Yes, please register at HireWomenWeek.com so that you will have access to the platform.
  2. Do I need to prepare anything?
    1. No preparation is required. It will be helpful to think of books, thought leaders, programs etc. that you helped you in your career to recommend to mentees.
  3. Will I know who I am meeting with?
    1. No, the platform will match mentors and mentees in real time when you log in. Please answer the short questionnaire to get paired with the best possible match upon logging in for your appointment.
  4. Can I be a mentor and a mentee?
    1. Yes, we believe in working with mentors from all stages of their career. Follow the two separate sign up processes in order to be a mentor for one session and a mentee for another.
  5. What are the requirements to be a mentor?
    1. Please sign up only for sessions where you have expertise. You do not have to currently work in that field in order to mentor. Ideal mentors have 2+ years experience working in the subjects they are mentoring in.
  6. Can I do more than one session?
    1. Yes, please! Sign up for as many as apply and fit your schedule.
  7. Do I have to have my video on?
    1. Cameras on is preferred. If you are unable to be on video, please let your mentee know they may choose to turn their camera off, too.
  8. My team is hiring, can I promote our jobs?
    1. Yes, please post them for free on the Hire Women Week job board.
